WHITE CHRISTMAS OVATION RADIO REVIEW
On Monday we were kindly invited along to the latest production from Witham Amateur Operatic Society, for the Irving Berlins classic White Christmas. Playing at The Witham Public Hall until the 1st November.
White Christmas is an irresistible classic and personally one that stands the test of time with stunning orchestrations and a timeless love story that you see time and time again. The venue it self is a throw back to a forgotten time in many ways and compliments the show beautifully. Witham Amateur Operatic Society love what they do and you can tell they are relishing in every moment of this production. They have created a beautiful production filled with heart, passion and a love of theatre. With well honed choreography and portrayals. The simplistic set affords the large cast to take the stage and fill the auditorium with wonderfully worked harmonies and bring their characters to life to showcase their talent and skill. They even show the care and nurture of future talent within the company.
Paul Flynn & Nick Sinner as Wallace and Davis drive the narrative forward with great strength and a wonderful chemistry between them. Amy Marsh & Sarah Miles as The Haynes Sisters were wonderfully portrayed with soaring vocals from the pair. It was lovely to see David Slater as General Waverly delivering a heart felt portrayal. Corrina Groombridge as Matha Watson was simply brilliant. With a commanding presence that is undeniable throughout with a perfect balance of comedic timing and a well defined character.
A special mention has to be made for Olivia Reynolds as Susan who gave a sweet and honest portrayal which was a delight to watch. The entire supporting company had their moments and had the audience in fits of giggles throughout the entire production.
A white Christmas plays at Witham Public Hall until the 1st November and is a delightful rendition of one of the greatest classic musicals.
